Intro Crit
$89 · 45-minute session · Online via Zoom · 1-on-1 · Single session
Intro Crit is a focused, one-on-one session with a professional artist mentor designed to give you an honest read of your work, identify where you're stuck, and leave you with clear next steps you can use in the studio right away.
Who it's for
Artists new to critique
- Want a low-commitment first session
- Looking for outside perspective on your work
- Ready to hear honest, constructive feedback
Artists seeking direction
- Feeling stuck or unclear about your practice
- Curious whether ongoing mentorship is right for you
- Want clarity without committing to a long program
What you'll get
- An honest read of how your work lands — formally, conceptually, and directionally
- 2–4 specific sticking points you can address in the studio immediately
- A clear sense of what to prioritize next and why
- A recommendation for next steps or pathways, if you want one
How it works
To maximize your 45 minutes, your mentor reviews your submitted materials before the session — a pre-read that lets the conversation move straight into the work itself, skipping the introductory phase entirely.
What to prepare
- Studio brief — A short reflection on your current goals and where you feel stuck
- Portfolio — 3–5 images or a link to a body of work in progress
Not sure if this is right for you?
Intro Crits may not be the best fit if you are:
- Looking primarily for technical instruction in a specific medium
- Already ready for long-term mentorship over a body of work — consider Studio Mentorship instead
- Not currently making work — the session works best when there's recent work to discuss
- Hoping for validation rather than honest critique
